Borgo San Felice

Borgo San Felice is a large winery with vineyards in Montalcino under the name “Tenuta Campogiovanni”, in Chianti Classico and in Maremma Toscana. From Alfredo Pirri’s 2017 retrospective at the MACRO Museum in Rome, Gallery Eduardo Secci lends us a vivacious work. It deals with the questions of space and surface. These colourful, playful Plexiglas spheres remind us of our childhood and playtime.

Raul de Nieves’ work The Temptation, shown at the 2017 Whitney Biennial, is a playful reclining sculpture; tired and in a dreamlike state sprawled on the wine barrels facing the four site-specific works of Alin Bozbiciu, returning to the classic art form of formal painting. This young artist is at the early stages of his career. Focusing on the minutiae of nature, but often presented on grand scale through sound, light, and video installations, Henrik Håkansson’s projects combine the interests of a biologist, an ethnologist and an artist, recalling the 19thcentury explorers who documented the natural and cultural riches of then little known lands. Stefan Brüggemann’s conceptual work is shown in the Chapel illuminated by Bob Wilson’s permanent Traviatalight installation. Brüggemann’s works question our contemporary society, juxtaposing reality and fiction. At which point in time are we?
