Where Architectural Poetry Meets the Art of Getting Lost

Labirinto della Masone, envisioned by publisher and aesthete Franco Maria Ricci, is an eight-hectare cultural oasis nestled near Parma. Home to the world’s largest bamboo labyrinth, this extraordinary site brings together nature, neoclassical architecture, and centuries of artistic heritage in a space designed to inspire both wonder and introspection.

Winding through over 200,000 bamboo plants, the labyrinth offers more than playful disorientation—it invites visitors into a meditative journey, culminating in a striking pyramid that anchors the site’s symbolic geometry. The layout, star-shaped and precise, echoes ancient Roman and Renaissance traditions, channeling order and beauty in equal measure.

At the heart of the complex lies an elegant cultural center designed by Pier Carlo Bontempi, housing Ricci’s personal art collection. From Renaissance sculpture to 20th-century masterpieces, the collection reflects a lifelong devotion to aesthetic excellence and narrative curation. The site also hosts temporary exhibitions, a vast library, a concert space, and refined dining offerings—all woven into the labyrinthine experience.

Labirinto della Masone is more than a maze; it is a total artwork, a place where visitors lose themselves in the bamboo and rediscover themselves in art, architecture, and silence. A testament to Ricci’s vision, it stands as a unique fusion of intellectual curiosity, visual harmony, and Italian cultural legacy.
